The Whirly Girl series of spinning tops play with the multiple roles socially assigned to women and with the pressure placed upon them to conform to these roles. By dislocating objects from their seemingly safe and innocent past, this series parodies the traditional assumptions that perpetuate stereotypical roles and further critiques the resulting objectification of women.
