The series Legacy honours my maternal grandmother. A woman of strength and endurance. Surviving two world wars, the Great Depression, cancer, a sickly heart and an intermittent husband to whom she bore ten children. My memories of her are of a frail, sick old lady - a picture of grandmotherly domesticity sitting by a window quietly crocheting ‘threads of steel’.
